The following case studies are edited extracts of oral histories taken from Anam Zakaria’s wonderful book 1971 and include difficult content such as violence, war, grief and gendered violence. This requires real consideration before using in the classroom. Questions that could guide a sensitive class discussion can be found with each case study and could be used alongside a glossary and timeline.
